“…art is a living phenomenon and nature is part of that lived experience” – John K. Grande – University College Falmouth, Research in Art, Nature and Environment.

In a search for mental clarity, we become pilgrims in our own mind. We journey to a specific place; whether physical or psychological, and it is often the innocence of the most childlike notions which allow our thoughts to be captivated, and our minds to be cleared. Countless hours spent playing outdoors among woodland and water serves as an underlying theme throughout the work.

Deviating from the typicality of site-specific artwork, the practice becomes more site-responsive; a reaction to the peaceful seclusion and serenity experienced within, and influenced by particular landscapes. Through the use of experimental video and sound, the viewer is invited into recreated personal memories as part of immersive installations, creating a solitary environment for contemplation and distraction, away from the reality of everyday life.
